Ladies and Gentlemen,
The 2000 International Modern Logistics and E-Commerce Conference" jointly sponsored by the State Administration of Internal Trade and the United Nations Development Program is an important and meaningful cooperation between Chinese government and the UNDP with a view to promote China's modern logistics and E-commerce. I would like to express warm welcome to the present representatives, experts and academics.
To accelerate the development of China¡¯s modern logistics will be essentially important for us to enhance the competitiveness of companies, optimize the allocation of resources, improve the economic performance, and realize the two fundamental transformations, namely China's economic structure and economic growth mode, as well as the sustainable and healthy development of the Chinese economy. In the Proposal on the Tenth Five-year Plan from the CPC Central Committee, logistics and distribution have been given a position of priority development in the service industry during the tenth Five-year plan period of China. It is our expectation that the vast number of companies involved in all links of logistics including procurement, manufacture, warehousing, transportation, freight forwarding, distribution and sales can seize this wonderful opportunity to learn from and draw upon advanced experiences of developed countries. Hopefully, they shall also endeavor to make explorations in accordance with practical Chinese conditions and integrate modern logistics with e-commerce so that logistics development of China can scale new height at an early date. Government agencies at all levels shall keep close cooperation, research and set up policies and measures for promoting the development of modern logistics, thus enhance the planning, instruction and promotion of modern logistics, and create an excellent environment for the development of logistics industry.
Wish this symposium a complete success!
