Chinese shares gained 2.99 percent on Monday, continuing the upward trend of the previous trading day, boosted by real estate and Olympics-related sectors.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 2.99 percent, or 83.05 points to end at 2,861.42 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 9,870.99 points, up 282.59 points.
Aggregate turnover on the two bourses rose from 89 billion yuan (13.05 billion U.S. dollars) of the previous trading day to 105.57 billion yuan on Monday.
