Rotterdam launches Euromax and feeder terminals

Europe Container Terminals (ECT), a member of Hutchison Port Holdings, has launched the Euromax Terminal, located at Rotterdam's Maasvlakte area in the North Sea.

The Euromax terminal has a total area of 84 hectares with a quay length of 1,500m, and offers an annual capacity of 2.3 million TEUs.

Investors in Euromax terminal expect to eventually increase the capacity to six million TEUs.

The terminal is a joint venture of ECT with Cosco, Hanjin, Yang Ming and "K" Line each investing 12.5 percent.

ECT has also launched the 840m Delta Barge Feeder (DBF) terminal, which offers feeder and barge operators their own dedicated terminal within the ECT Delta Terminal.

The DBF terminal has an annual handling capacity of 700,000 barge and feeder moves. It also offers additional capacity to ECT customers using the deep-sea quays.
